Hike a 14er

Missouri Mountain – Northwest Ridge

Saturday, July 14, 2018

It’s an adventure!  All Warriors, wives, and mature kids are invited to join us as we hike Missouri Peak on Saturday, July 14, 2018.  Topping off at 14,075 feet in between Leadville and Buena Vista, Missouri Mountain is rated as a moderate hike (Class 2).  No hiking experience is necessary.

Directions & Camping:  To get to the Northwest Ridge trailhead from Leadville drive 20 miles south on U.S. 24 and turn right on the Chaffee County 390 road.  Or, from Buena Vista drive 14.5 miles north on U.S. 24 and turn left on the Chaffee County 390 road.  On the 390 road, drive 7.5 miles to a sign for the Missouri Gulch trailhead. Turn left and drive down into the large parking area. There are restrooms here.  We intend to camp at the trailhead in tents or vehicles.

Warm-up Hikes:  In order to get in shape for the 14er, we are scheduling several warm-up hikes to get our bodies acclimated.  No hiking experience is necessary for the 14er or for the warm-up hikes.  Whether you are planning on hiking the 14er or not, you are welcome to join us on any or all  of the warm-up hikes.  If you are interested in any of the hikes, sign up for the 14er and we will notify you of upcoming hikes via email.

Hiking Gear:  Since everyone’s needs vary according to personal health conditions, we suggest going to a reputable 14er website, such as “14ers.com” to decide what you need to take.  The gear list link is below.  Contact us, if you need to know what to bring on the warm-up hikes.
