  • Crag Crest Trail - Grand Mesa

Registration

Registration is closed

This is the second in a series of hikes in preparation for the fourteener trip in July. This hike is not limited to those planning on going on the fourteener, it is open to everyone. We will meet at 6:45 am at the McDonald's in Clifton, and will then carpool or caravan from there. Plan to be on the trail by 9:00 am, and five to six hours of hiking time. Bring plenty of water and any snacks you like, as well as lunch to eat on the trail. We also recommend sunscreen, insect repellant and any other amenities to make the hike enjoyable. This is a 10.3 mile circular trail, at high elevation with steep drop-offs. There will be an option for a shorter, one-way hike with a vehicle shuttle back to the starting point if desired. Be prepared for cooler temperatures, and rain is always possible.  For additional information contact Steve Allard at 970-255-0244 or via e-mail at gsliforce@gmail.com.

Driving directions: I-70 east to exit 49, Highway 65, Grand Mesa. Proceed 34 miles on Highway 65 to the West Crag Crest parking area on the left (across from Island Lake).
